Comprehensive Digitalization for Advanced HSSE in a Major Port Terminal

Port of Los Angeles

Client: APM Terminals P400

Challenge: Manual HSSE workflows leading to operational inefficiencies

Solution: Full deployment of all Stowlog modules

APM Terminals P400, one of the busiest and most operationally complex terminals in Los Angeles, it faced a clear challenge: its HSSE activities were still managed through manual processes. Tasks such as safety inductions, visitor handling, access verification, and incident-related actions were dispersed across spreadsheets, emails, and paper documents — creating delays, increasing administrative workload, and limiting real-time visibility over daily operations.

To streamline and modernize the terminal’s safety and security management, P400 adopted the complete Stowlog suite of modules, integrating all HSSE procedures into a single digital platform. This included digital safety inductions for thousands of external drivers and visitors, centralized visit scheduling, an interactive 3D map for better situational awareness, real-time geoposition of personnel inside the terminal, and automated workflows for sanctions, permits, and risk-related processes.

By implementing all Stowlog modules, APM Terminals P400 transitioned from fragmented manual tasks to a fully digital, transparent, and real-time HSSE ecosystem, aligned with the operational standards of one of the most advanced terminals in the region.
