APM Terminals Pipavav
Digitalizing complex port operations for enhanced safety

Client: APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat, India)
Challenge: Paper-based visitor management and safety inductions for both external personnel and internal employees — with added complexity due to the terminal’s multiple operational areas.
Solution: Visits Management module and Safety Induction module.
APM Terminals Pipavav operates as a multi-operational facility, handling container operations, bulk cargo, liquid cargo, and rail-linked logistics activities. This complexity created a unique challenge: the terminal was managing all visitor registrations and safety inductions on paper, not only for external truck drivers and contractors but also for internal employees. Each operational area had its own requirements and workflows, making the process slow, inconsistent, and difficult to centralize.
With high daily traffic and multiple zones requiring different safety protocols, relying on manual systems made it nearly impossible to maintain accurate records, track compliance, or ensure that every visitor and employee had the correct safety induction for their operational area.
To overcome these issues, APMT Pipavav implemented two core Stowlog modules: the Visits Management module and the Safety Induction module. The terminal can now manage all visit requests digitally, automate approvals, and maintain full traceability of who is on-site. Safety inductions are completed online, with lessons and exams tailored to the specific operational area each user will work in or visit. This ensures that every individual — whether a driver, contractor, or internal employee — receives the exact safety information relevant to their tasks.
With these modules in place, APMT Pipavav has transformed a complex, paper-heavy workflow into a digital, structured, and highly efficient system.
